Some Determination for Goals

GoalsIf someone had told me how long it would take to write a novel I would not have believed it. All the writing, re-working, and editing was beyond me, and that was just the first book. I am preparing it for re-release which is exciting, and taking most of my attention. Being an introvert tends to limit how much time I spend on social media. I prefer to use this platform for being social. It took a great deal of courage before beginning my little blog. I write once a month so it can continue to be something enjoyable and entertaining.

Have an Early Goal

I was aiming to publish in another twenty years. Things do not always go according to plan, but there are times when life does that. Writing is a past time I continue to enjoy. Completing a novel has been about setting out long term goals. Then breaking them into small manageable chunks, and keeping the dream alive. It may be a long way away, but every step helps move a little closer. Even the wrong turns, and the sideways journeys have helped. This includes the frustration and excitement that goes with them.

Believe in Yourself

This is easier said than done. There are times when it has just been me keeping the momentum. On the most difficult days you need to be your greatest support. Value the times when you can count on others for assistance. Writing is a long term plan, especially when everything else can cause interruptions. A novel can be a slow process, and no matter how much effort is put in the result can be far away. That is okay because everyone has their own pace. When setting goals make them realistic, and give yourself permission to fail. Writing is a long process, and there are many things that can occur along the way. It is the journey, and how you approach it that makes the difference.

Published by Chantelle Griffin

Chantelle’s mother remains one of the most famous witnesses in Australian legal history. The first large screen movie the author saw, at the age of nine, had an actress playing her as an infant when she was at Uluru on 17 August 1980 at the same campsite as the Chamberlains. She began publishing poetry later in life with the first release coinciding with the fortieth anniversary of the disappearance of Azaria. While most poems have been released in the volumes for the anthology, more than a thousand were written throughout a twelve year period. Chantelle has a Master of Environmental Planning and enjoys life at half pace with two cats. Her first fantasy book was released too soon, after a near death experience and a second edition was published four years later. She resides in Tasmania and continues to write as a past time in the evening.
